June 2014

Portsmouth City Council approve the Ben Ainslie Racing Team's America's Cup Facilities Building on the Camber, which is the city's historic port area.  RMA Heritage prepared the Heritage Significance Statement and undertook a visual impact assessment of the proposal by HGP Architects, which will undoubtedly become a waterfront landmark.  We wish Sir Ben Ainslie and team every success with this project and preparing for what is a Herculean challenge!

May 2014

South Downs National Park Authority approve planning permission and listed building consent for the conversion of redundant farm builidings to two residential units at Manor Farm, Greatham, West Sussex. RMA Heritage were involved from the start of this project providing guidance to T2 Architects and local developer, producing heritage significance statement, landscape character and visual assessment and negotiating with local conservation officers and English Heritage.  The new use will rescue these important buildings which were in very poor condition and on the 'Buildings at Risk Register'.

April 2014

Torridge District Council approve planning permission and listed building consent for a new swimming pool building at Portledge House, a Grade II* listed country house.  The Witcher Crawford Architects scheme was informed by RMA Heritage who also liaised with the Council and English Heritage.

South Downs National Park Authority approve listed building consent and planning permission for roof alterations and a new dormer at a Grade II listed cottage in East Meon, Hampshire.

March 2014

Torridge District Council approve listed building consent and planning permission for a re-ordering and major refurbishment scheme at Portledge House, a Grade II* listed country house.  The Witcher Crawford Architects scheme was informed by RMA Heritage's historical research and a detailed heritage significance statement.

February 2014

RMA Heritage win our Appeal Hearing on a Grade II listed villa at Park Place Villas, Maida Vale, London.  An excellent result which will replace an unattractive conservatory with a very elegant contemporary glass extension designed by Zachary Pulman.  The Inpector had no doubts about the merits of the scheme and found its unashamedly minimalist symmetrical form reflected the purity and symmetry of the rear elevation of this Greek Revival house.

December 2013

RMA Heritage win our Appeal Hearing on 31 Wilton Crescent, Belgravia, London.  A fantastic result which will add a whole 1st floor to this former rear wing of 1-2 Grosvenor Crescent, a Grade II* listed building in Belgravia Conservation Area.  The proposal adds 100M² of floor space to this dwelling and allows bedroom accommodation to be moved from the basement to the new 1st floor.  The Inspector agreed that the listed building, streetscene and conservation area would be enhanced by the proposal and that it caused minimal harm to the significance of the listed building.

RMA Heritage appointed to produce a Heritage Significance Assessment on a Grade II listed public house in Newbury and will be advising Focus Design and the client on their refurbishment proposals.

November 2013

RMA Heritage host a stand at the Historic Buildings, Parks and Gardens Event at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in London on the 12 November.

RMA Heritage appointed to produce a Heritage Significance Assessment of a listed pub and restaurant in Stockbridge, Hampshire, which will help inform proposals for internal alterations and an extension by Focus Design.  The listing comprises three buildings, which range in date between the 17th and 19th centuries.

RMA Heritage appointed to undertake a Heritage Significance Assessment of an unlisted historic farmstead near Romsey in the Test Valley.

October 2013

RMA Heritage appointed to advise on whether a listed building still merited listing. After an initial assessment we came to conclusion that the house had been largely demolished and rebuilt, so we believe it no longer meets the listing citeria and have recommended that English Heritage reassess the building with a view to delisting it.

August 2013

RMA Heritage appointed to advise on a Grade II* listed country house in North Devon, which has a 900 year old family history and 70 plus rooms!  We will be working closely with Witcher Crawford Architects, who specialise in country house architecture and are a successful conservation and design practice.

July 2013

RMA Heritage commissoned by Savills to provide a Heritage Significance Statement for a historic farm building complex in South Hampshire.  The Master Plan proposed retaining the unlisted farmhouse and redundant farm buildings and creating a new village centre for a larger housing development, which was being promoted as a housing allocation site in the Local Plan.

June 2013

RMA Heritage appointed to appeal a refusal of Listed Building Consent and planning permission for a proposed extension to a Grade II* listed building just off Belgrave Square, London SW1.  The appeal will be heard by a Hearing.

April 2013

RMA Heritage appointed to advise on a fire damaged Grade II listed 16th century thatched house in East Meon, Hampshire.  The fire started on the pair of cottages next door and spread quickly across the thatched roof causing devastating damage to the roof structure and first floor.

RMA Heritage appointed to undertake historic building recording at a Grade II* listed manor house near Andover, Hampshire.

RMA Heritage appointed to undertake historic building research and advise on development proposals on a Grade II listed house in Over Wallop, Hampshire.

RMA Heritage appointed to advise on design proposals for an extension to a mid 19th century Grade II listed villa in Maida Vale.  We are working with the inspired and very talented designer Zachary Pulman.

The 20th Anniversary of the Building Conservation Directory publish an article by our Principal Richard MacCullagh on 'Extending Listed Buildings'.

December 2012

Following the commissioning of an independent report, we persuaded Westminster City Council to agree in principle to the removal of faux 17th century timber panelling from a Grade II listed Georgian town house in Mayfair. The panelling dated largely from the late 19th or early 20th century and was installed in the 1970s.

November 2012

London Borough of Richmond upon Thames grant planning permission and listed building consent for various internal and external alteratons at a Grade II listed town house on The Green, Richmond.

RMA Heritage appointed to prepare a Heritage Significance Statement on proposals by Donald Insall Associates to amalgamate two Grade II listed apartments in Eaton Square, Belgravia, London SW1.

RMA Heritage appointed to advise on the conversion of a Grade II listed 18th century staddlestone barn in Over Wallop, Hampshire.

RMA Heritage appointed to provide a Landscape Character and Visual Impact Appraisal for a rural site in the South Downs National Park. We are also advising on development proposals involving the reuse of redundant historic farm buildings.

Southampton City Council grants planning permission for a major redevelopment scheme at Admirals Quay, Ocean Village.  This prestigious waterfront development will create the city's tallest landmark building at 80 metres.  RMA Heritage undertook a heritage assessment of the impact of the scheme and managed to persuade English Heritage to withdraw their initial objection.
